Aloha will always be with me

Okay, I admit it. I have had an off and on love affair with Hawaii for the past twenty years, and it doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon. As much as I love the pristine beaches, moisture, and amazing weather, there's something about Hawaii that I love even more--the people! I am overwhelmed at the kindness that my dear friends have shown to me and my family this past week. We have been welcomed with open arms and have been treated like ohana (family). Tonight, we attended the night show at the Polynesian Cultural Center--compliments of a good friend. A few nights ago, other close friends treated us to The Haunted Lagoon, complete with fast passes that saved us from standing in line for three hours! (also at the Polynesian Cultural Center). We have been staying with other friends in their home all week long, and they have made us feel like part of the family! And, another close friend was kind enough to give my husband a medicinal massage to help ease the problems he has been having due to bronchitis.
Being here again feels like a dream, and I'm not quite yet ready to wake up. In a few days, I'll be back home--back to my crazy, hectic life. My long walks on the beach will be tucked away in my collection of memories to be replayed when I need them most. I will forever be grateful for the lessons that I learned while living here on this island, lessons of friendship and kindness that transcend all cultures. It is comforting to know that no matter how far I travel from here, the spirit of ALOHA will always be with me.
