When Things Fall Apart

I'm the featured guest blogger today on Just Romantic Suspense. I talk about the excruciating moment that germinated the seed for When Darkness Falls.

Here's the Post on Just Romantic Suspense.

I'll also post the original article:

It was one of those excruciating moments when no matter how carefully I planned and how hard I tried to make it work, it all fell apart and came crashing down around me. I had considered all of the angles and planned for every contingency—or so I thought. I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard that Life rarely goes according to plan. And while the rational part of my brain accepts this, there’s that other part of me—the optimistic dreamer—that whispers:  But sometimes it does. It’s the sometimes that intrigues me and captures my focus. And when that delectable carrot is dangled in front of my face, it’s all I can think about. After all, there are those rare moments when a plan actually comes together. I secretly hope that I’ll beat the odds and be one of the few who actually pulls it off!
Of course for every victory there are a thousand other times when “things didn’t go according to plan.” John Lennon had it right when he said:  Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.

It was in this frame of reference that I began working with my writing partner to craft my latest novel, When Darkness Falls.
